Tool Time Tuesday...Coat Hook Fix

Happy Tuesday!! I've been doing a little "deep" cleaning before the holidays. You know closet clean outs, going through fall and winter coats, under the bed dust bunnies etc.

Since the weather is changing in our area, I've noticed we have more coats out of the closets and onto the hooks in our back hallway. The hooks are great for the quick coat grab on the way out the door. Here is a picture of the hooks...no big deal, just hooks.

Why am I sharing this with you?

The dreaded coat bump!! Lol

You've all seen it...it's the little hump in the fabric that the hook leaves at the neck of your coat, jacket or sweater.

Here's the Tool Time Tuesday solution.

Tennis Balls!!!

and the tool for the day...your drill.

It drills easily, but start slow so you don't slip.

This size hole is great for thin hooks.

For larger knobbed hooks like these, you may need to cut away some of the ball after you make the smaller hole.

I used snippers. The ball is just rubber, so it's easy.

Just slips on.

Certainly not a fashion statement for the home, but our hooks are pretty much covered with coats all year long.

If you want them to be a fashion statement, you could always paint them or Mod Podge fabric on them.

This is the BEFORE BUMP...

and here's the AFTER BUMP...much better

There still might be a slight bump from the tennis ball, but the ball is larger and certainly not as pronounced as the small bump. The larger bump falls out easier as you wear it too.

This is a small project to help out with the little things in life...it's all in the details, right??

Happy Tuesday,
~Karen~
